SWIFT Service Bureau FAQs

Is BankServ's SWIFT Service Bureau open to banks around the world, or only in the United States?

Any bank in the world can join. Although BankServ is registered as a U.S. service bureau, transactions from overseas banks can be routed through our system as well.

Do I need to sign up for the service bureau in order to use BankServ's TurboSwift software?

No — although the majority of BankServ's SWIFT customers use our service bureau, TurboSwift can be operated as a stand-alone program as well. However, your bank must have its own connection to the SWIFT network in order to do so.

If my bank is already a SWIFT member, can it still use BankServ's service bureau?

Yes — and even if your bank already has access to the SWIFT network, a service bureau approach may save you time and money by eliminating the need to operate and maintain your own equipment to handle international payment messaging.

Are there any recurring charges to use the Service Bureau? Is there a minimum number of transactions my bank must send?

Once your bank is set up, all fees are on a per-transaction basis, and there's no minimum number of transactions you need to process. Even if your bank only handles a few international payments a day, there’s no extra charge to use BankServ's SWIFT service bureau.

Does the service bureau only support SWIFT financial messages, or other message types as well?

Besides providing access to the SWIFTNet FIN system, BankServ's service bureau also lets client banks use SWIFT's FileAct and InterAct services. Incoming and outgoing telex messages are also supported.
